Radio Berkshire visits school!

In April, Radio Berkshire were in the Great Hollands area all week meeting the people in our community and getting to hear about all the good things that go on as well as the things that would improve our community even more.

So where better to come than to the school and meet Mr Purdy and our wonderful school council members who always have something to say and share. On a live broadcast to Andrew Peach back in the studio the children introduced themselves with great excitement before sharing their

Sculpture Park Visit

Year 3 and 4 visited the Sculpture Park at Farnham this month to view the fantastic sculptures on display along the park trail. While there the children saw sculptures of all shapes and sizes, made of different materials and of different subjects. The children sketched their favourites. Back in school, these drawings and photos will help the children to have a firm idea about a sculpture they might like to create for the school grounds. To help us in this project later on in the term Celia Smith, a local professional sculptor who specialises working with wire, is coming to work with our Year 3 children. Sleepover'13

8pm arrival at school with games, food for midnight-munchies and lots of sleeping bags. 40 children, in a mix from years 1 to 4 arrived, bought some sweets from the FRoGS and got ready for the fun to begin.

We had time in the ICT suite surfing the web, time in the Gym playing with the parachute and some team games (even the teachers joined in!) and some time in the junior hall with the bowling game on the Nintendo Wii. But rather than have the Wii on a normal TV screen, we ran it through one of the school’s projectors and shone that onto 4 double white sheets that had been stitched together. Made it more fun playing when it was that size. Click on header to see more

Red Nose Day

Thank you all so much. Your generosity has helped to raise a marvellous £518 on Red Nose Day. The money will be put to good work, transforming the lives of people across both this country and the continent of Africa.

As you can see from the photos, we happily wore red for the day, sang the Comic Relief song and then later in the day sold beautiful cakes and biscuits, baked by willing staff and governors. Fantastic!

School Council Visit to Mayor's Chambers

Our school council looked after by Mr Roberts and Mrs Temperton, the schools Chair of Governors, meet to discuss school affairs every half term. The class representatives on the council, elected by their class mates, get the opportunity at council meetings to raise questions, express concerns and represent the pupil‘s voice in the schools decision making process. Sounds familiar? Sounds like how the Bracknell Forest Borough council might operate. Well, on Tuesday 26 February, the whole school council took the minibus to town, with Mr Purdy, to hold a council session in the official council chamber in Easthampstead House. We also got the chance to meet the Mayor and see her private room and the robes../

Year 1&2 Trip to Windsor Castle

The weather forecast said it would be cold but dry. How wrong could they be! With winter coats, woolly scarves and wellington boots at the ready Year one and two children and lots of our lovely staff and parents excitedly boarded the coach and bus that would take them to Windsor Castle.

”The snow is only light, it will stop soon” thought Miss Estcourt but it didn’t. Snow set in all day but did it spoil the trip? Of course not! Our children were cold but brilliant all day long,

Snowy Days

January 21st 2013, saw us have rather a lot of snow on the school ground. Come 1pm, we’ve all had dinner and half an hour left of play-time, so what did we do?

With Snowmen, Snowgirls and snow-angels being made at one end of the field, to mass snowball fights at the other end of the field, we all had a great time – even if we did throw snowballs in “James Bond Style”. Click on header to see lot of pictures!

Ufton Court 2013

As a school we are also always looking for different ways of stimulating and improving further our children’s literacy and history skills and what better way than through our topic Don’t Lose Your Head! based on life in Tudor times. (click on header at top to read more)
