Year 5 Tag Rugby Tournament

October's Annual Tag Rugby Tournament

On Thursday 20th October 2017, Great Hollands assembled a group of determined Year 5’s to take on the challenge of the Year 5/6 Bracknell Schools Tag Rugby tournament at Great Hollands Rec.

With the Year 6’s away on PGL, the tournament was always going to be a tough competition for the team; however, they collaborated superbly to execute some fantastic rugby.

The whole team were brave and courageous in both attacking and defending. Running, ducking and diving between challenges from opposition players, and showing great composure when tackled, taking their time before finding a teammate with a pass.

Without the ball, the children were well disciplined and worked hard as a team to obtain the tags of the opposition players and stop any drives towards the GH try line.

The children were fantastic throughout the whole day. Positive even in defeat. The children were a real credit to themselves and represented the school in an outstanding manner. With hugely positive support and calls of “spread out!” and “forward!” the spectators on the side lines were thrilled by the children’s play, behaviour and all round teamwork!

The team finished the tournament with 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats. Not bad at all!
