Mr Ferris appointed Director of our Primary Hub

We would like to share an important update with our school community. From September 2025, our Headteacher, Mr Ferris, has taken on an additional role as Director of Maiden Erlegh Trust Primary Hub.

This new role extends a leadership model already in place for Secondary, Special Education and Alternative Provision across Maiden Erlegh Trust (MET). It is designed to strengthen collaboration between schools, so that every pupil benefits from consistent standards, shared expertise and the best possible support.

It is important to stress that Mr Ferris will continue as the Headteacher of Great Hollands Primary School where he will remain fully engaged in school life, while also supporting improvement across other primary schools within MET.

To provide additional leadership capacity, Mrs York will step up as Acting Headteacher for two days per week and Mrs Watson will act as Deputy Headteacher for two days per week alongside her role as SENDCo and Assistant Head. These experienced colleagues will ensure that leadership at Great Hollands remains strong and well supported.

Mr Ferris said:
“I am committed to fostering strong, collaborative relationships across the hub so that best practice is consistently shared and every child benefits from a high-quality education. For me, this means ensuring that all pupils, regardless of background, experience an ambitious curriculum, excellent teaching, and the right support to thrive personally as well as academically.”

Andy Johnson, Director of Education at Maiden Erlegh Trust, added:
“This strategic role will play a pivotal part in strengthening collaboration across our primary schools. Mr Ferris brings a wealth of experience, and we look forward to his work with Headteachers to ensure that all pupils benefit from consistently high standards of teaching, care and support, enabling them to thrive and achieve their full potential.”

What this means for Great Hollands families

  • Continuity of leadership at Great Hollands.

  • Stronger collaboration between primary schools with faster sharing and implementation of best practice.

  • Consistent high standards for teaching, care and support.

We are confident this development will bring clear benefits for Great Hollands pupils and families by bringing stronger collaboration across our group of primary schools.
